Next month, the Modwest Team is moving to new office space in Missoula. The servers stay put, but the team is moving a few blocks. We'll publish the new address and other info soon.
Back in 2000, known as MissoulaWeb, we had no office at all. We had a single everything-server, really clever home-grown software that handled signups and billing, and a cell phone. I carried it most of the time in those days, answering calls from customers all over the world who had miraculously discovered us... on my back porch. And walking down the street.
Then we were in a nondescript south-end-of-town office complex, which met our needs for a couple years.
We've been in our second office since summer 2003; it's most of the third floor of a six-story downtown bank building. We love being downtown, and the space has been fine -- maybe a little rough around the edges here and there, but fine -- for five years now.
Well, it's time for a change. This spring, even as financial markets were starting to melt down, we got a loan and bought our own space (just like Joel).
And what a space it is. I'll post a "before" picture (from May) tonight, and an "almost done" picture very soon.
The space adjoins Missoula's Caras Park, which is bordered by the Clark Fork River, to which Brennan's Wave was recently added. In summertime, Wednesdays (lunch) and Thursdays (dinner) mean that there'll be live music and fresh food in the park, thanks to the Missoula Downtown Association.
The space is at park-level in the Wilma, a historic 8-story theater building in the heart of Missoula. (If you ever want to visit, there are rentals available.)
Our new office space once overlooked an indoor swimming pool. Seriously.
It also used to be a chapel. And a bar. It has twenty-foot ceilings and a mezzanine level.
Anyway, here's a "before" picture:
More news soon.
